Threads appears to be rolling out a new location tagging feature that allows users to add locations to their posts. Some users have reported seeing changes to the Threads app, but it doesn’t seem to be available to everyone yet.
This feature is similar to Instagram’s location tags. If you give threads access to your location, you’ll see a list of nearby places to tag, but you can also search for places manually. For example, I’ve already seen some users jokingly tag their posts with “hell.”
According to Meta’s in-app disclaimer, the company plans to use location sharing to better customize threads by showing “personalized content” about nearby places.
