The Ultimate Universe shows how creators can bring heroes back to their roots, and that’s the case with the Ultimate Wolverine. Logan is currently in the Winter Soldier program and appears to have lost his humanity and identity in the process. The first issue reveals that his fellow mutants knew him as a friend, but he also slaughtered them. Writer Chris Condon and artist Alessandro Cappuccio go deep into the programme and situation that has come into the weapons of Ultimate Wolverine #2.
The main characters in Ultimate Wolverine #2 are Magik, Omega Red, Colossus, Wolverine, and Dr. Includes Alonya Prostovich. The latter character runs Director X, the research program that transformed Wolverine into a Winter Soldier. Given that all the characters in this book are villains, it’s not so good for Wolverine to escape slavery.
Ultimate Wolverine #2 opens 30 years before a series of events. This is a flashback revealed in a preview showing how the maker undressed the man behind Weapon X on the board. Can you guess that Weapon X was switched due to Maker’s plan? Perhaps, but that’s certainly at least how Wolverine’s past has been messed up in this universe.
Brutal death.

Much of this issue concerns Wolverine being field-tested. The apparently very evil Colossus places Dr. Aronya on the chopping block to see how Wolverine does it against his men. Atrocities are animalistic and merciless. Plus, Colossus does not get pushback when placing his hand on his throat. He seems like the dog they want, but at the last moment he may see something with Wolverine, where he can oppose his master.
If it’s not yet clear from this review, this is a story of slow burning. Between this and the first issue, we know little about Wolverine. The second issue is that there are hints that some people may be ready to escape by simply making sure he is a rap dog.
When it comes to art, I continue to do something creepy about Cappuccio and colour artist Brian Valenza. From the glow-looking Toruette Hudson glasses to the gust of air coming from the Wolverine mask, there is a sense of fear and terror in most of the book. The raw power of Wolverine animals is also on display. Cappuccio’s bold contrast and meticulous use of details reinforces storytelling, immersed readers in this rough, uncompromising world.
Ultimate Wolverine #2 continues its slow-burn descent into Logan’s tragic transformation, highlighting the loss of humanity while teasing potential breakpoints. This art is great at creating a cold and violent atmosphere, but the story can benefit from a faster pace and more character insights.

Capturing the eerie and brutal nature of Wolverine’s transformation
A powerful atmosphere art that reinforces the tension and fear of the story
Build a conspiracy around the potential rebellion of Wolverine
Minimal character development so far slows down
Wolverine’s personality remains largely unknown, making it difficult to connect with him
