As if the film’s history of DC was not written, DC Comics is finally getting a suitable history book. DC Comics: The Universe Stories by Sean Howe and Sam Thiellman were published in one of those book’s contract columns and just signed as posted by Thiellman. (The news is a week ago, but no one has posted it, so I’m going here.)
I can’t imagine two qualified people anymore!
Howe is the author of Marvel Comics: The Untold Story is a perfectly studied and thrilled story of Marvel’s behind the scenes story. Thielman is currently a graphic novel reviewer for the NY Times, but writes about comics such as Guardian and The New Yorker. It is enough to say that these two gentlemen have the knowledge to write this story, and I can’t wait to read it!
The book will be published by Harper One on its 2027 publication date. Rakesh Satyal, editor and David Patterson of the Stuart Krichevsky Agency, brokered the deal.
And what materials do they have? From above my head:
It’s rewarding. It’s certainly a rich mine with stories. Sam and Sean, you’ve done a big job before you, but you got this. I have only one plea: give her the right to Dorothy Wool Fork!
