After launching it two years ago, the title of Immortal Thor ended. Check out our Marvel Rundown review. As previously announced, writer Al Ewing will continue his character run as the title resumes next month at artist Pascual Ferry. Marvel has promised the characters a major change in status quo, and certainly the publisher has revealed details that the God of Thunder is now a deadly Thor who has a book that reflects its title.
Here’s how publishers have explained new directions for the book:
The God of Thunder is on a journey of heroes worthy of Asgard legend, winning a thunderous battle with the gods of Utgard. With the cusp of victory over these exiled elder gods, the dark prophecy was fulfilled – killed by Loki! To protect Asgard, the Rainbow Bridge was crushed and wiped all of Thor and Asgard from Midgard’s memory…
The legend begins!
Nordic mythology speaks of the gods who walked the earth and does great things for the people who believed in them. But Asgard was not the real thing and was never the case. God never danced in our sky, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. No one is coming to help us. But somewhere in the city… a man is awake. A man with a hammer. This is the story of the deadly Thor, Sigurd Jarsson!
As most Marvel fans know, Thor originally had a deadly host named Donald Blake. The characters have finally come for years, around the time of the first Thor and the Avengers movies, when Marvel put out Donald Blake and pasted grass to match the MCU portrayal.
Writer Al Ewing described the new human Thor as a continuation of this story he began two years ago, a new civilian identity.
“Now Immortal Thor #25 is in a position for you to read. “This was an idea that came from the original pitch. I wanted to treat Thor as a god and give him a true mythical story… But, Odin’s son, he found himself in the winter. We are dead in the winter. Thor is dead. On earth.
