This week, GlobalComix announced the launch of an exclusive “vertical scrolling” edition of Magma Comix’s acclaimed comic book series, The Pedestrian. The GlobalComix release, which will launch on the platform on October 6, 2025, “brings the innovative storytelling of ‘The Pedestrian’ to GlobalComix’s cutting-edge vertically scrolling format, making the series more immersive and accessible than ever before,” according to the announcement.

The Pedestrian by Joey Esposito and Sean Von Gorman quickly emerged as one of the standout titles of 2025. The series has been nominated for an Apple Award for Best Series, and the award ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 18th at Baltimore Comic Con. The Pedestrian is the first vertically scrolling original produced by GlobalComix in partnership with Magma Comix.

Since its debut, The Pedestrian has captivated readers and critics alike with its visual storytelling, dynamic artwork, and fresh approach to socially resonant themes. The combination of rounded human drama and surreal visual energy sets it apart from other new releases this year. The comic’s ability to blend street storytelling with broad cultural commentary has made it a huge success, making it a fan favorite and earning accolades across the industry.

“The Pedestrian is more than just a great comic, it’s a story that redefines how media can connect with readers,” said Will Graves, head of content at GlobalComix. “By presenting this work in vertical scrolling on GlobalComix, we are able to amplify its impact and invite fans into a storytelling experience that feels built for the future of comics.”

“GlobalComix has been a trusted partner of Magma since its inception, and we are excited to take this next step with The Pedestrian leading the way,” said Denton J. Tipton, President and Publisher of Magma Comix.

Von Gorman describes the series on his website as follows:

An eccentric good Samaritan quietly battles an evil force with ancient origins that affects the lives of ordinary people in a small town.

In every small town, there’s someone everyone knows, but no one really knows.

In Summer City, a man in white spandex will stop to help citizens in need whenever he can within the law, whether it’s to thwart a robbery or help people parallel park.

This man is a walker, a mysterious figure who wanders in and out of the townspeople’s lives like a super-heroic tumbleweed. Throughout the series, we meet a web of characters, including a petty criminal, a babysitter, a pizza delivery man, a railroad crossing guard, a detective, and 11-year-old twin brothers. At first infatuated with the walker, they eventually unite with him and each other in an ancient battle against an evil space conqueror called Clutch. While living normal lives full of kind demeanors and everyday evils, they unwittingly play a role in a cosmic chess game that could bring about the end of everything.

As a group of strangers attempts to solve the walker’s mystery, the protagonist confronts the trauma that shaped him and uncovers the secrets of the universe that the characters don’t understand.
