Launched in 2018 by comic creators Sanford Greene, Chuck Brown, and David F. Walker, Bitter Root is a comic book series set during the Harlem Renaissance that encourages people to heal rather than kill creatures. The story depicts the Sangelly family, a family of monster hunters. Legendary Pictures acquired the film rights to this work, and it became a huge commercial hit. Fans have been looking forward to the new edition. Rejoice Today Image Comic has announced that the Sangelliers will return this March in a new five-issue installment of the long-running series, Bitter Root: Next Movement.

The publisher describes the series as follows:

In Bitter Root: The Next Movement, lies built a house of oppression. The bitter truth will consume it. The year is 1964, the height of the civil rights movement. When a group of activists goes missing, a new generation of the Saint-Gélier family must face a threat far worse than their ancestors ever encountered. A monster born of hatred and racism, Jinoo has evolved into a threat that few people want to acknowledge, and even fewer know how to fight.

The creator suggested the following:

“I am thrilled to be returning to what I believe is one of the most important books of our time!” said Ms. Green.

“Thank you for always standing up to monsters,” Brown added.

“Thank you for your patience. It was worth the wait,” Walker said.

Bitter Root: The Next Movement #1 will be available in comic book shops on Wednesday, March 26th.
