Back in Amazing Spider-Man #252, Spider-Man is revealed to be an alien symbiont that will surprise fans by returning from a secret war in a sophisticated black suit and later become poisonous. More than 40 years later, Marvel is set to unveil the most shocking costume twist since its game-changing debut.
This November, Battleworld #3 will introduce a whole new symbiotic look. This time is worn by a mysterious alternative universe hero wearing a red and blue Spider-Man suit with a symbiotic twist. The story continues the following month with Venom #252.
Battleworld, a multiverse-span limited series by Christos Gage and Marcus To, kicked off in September and is inspired by both the Secret War of 1984 and the spiritual successor of 2015. In issue 3, it is revealed that one of the story’s chosen heroes is this whole new version of Venom. The character was created by author Jordan Morris (who recently debuted in Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood #1) and Luciano Vecchio, the artist of Marvel Stormbreaker known for his dynamic Spider-Verse designs.
The new character takes the center stage in the backup story of Venom #252 written by Morris in Art with Art by Gesús Saíz. The issue also featured the special stories of Tom Defalco and Ron Frenz from Amazing Spider-Man Legends, and returned directly to the original with the Black Suit debut.
Fans are also looking forward to seeing the new Symbiote design by Vecchio for the first time.
