Welcome to this week’s Beat’s Comic Crowdfunding Roundup!

Check out new-age fantasy, new editions to the top, thrilling thrillers, and more!

new era

Creator: Morgan Hickman (writer/artist)
Goal: $2,700
End date: December 19, 2025
Bonus: Get a digital copy for $5, a physical copy for $20, and an autographed copy for $25. At a higher tier, the “Mage Tier” is available for $35.

200 years have passed since humans were able to use magic. A girl born into a distant tribe is now the world’s only hope.

There’s not much to The New Age’s project page as much as promotional art. However, there is a fascinating video. Hickman shows off what he has, and even though he doesn’t have much, he exudes a sincerity that I couldn’t miss. Because of this, I was able to watch his videos and see his project plans. A high-fantasy world where the first mana-synchronized child is born in 200 years. It’s interesting, but its biggest selling point is Hickman’s comic book art style, which is complex and full of life. I couldn’t help but want more.

RISE #1 Wraparound Edition (Issues 1-4 available!)

Creator: Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz (author)
Goal: $2,500
End date: December 23, 2025
Bonus: Get a digital copy for $7, a new physical version for $15, Rise #2 (Cover A) for $15, and at higher levels Rise #1 (New Edition, Cover B) for $25, etc.

New edition of Rise #1! Subverting the Hero’s Journey: What happens if you don’t feel good to do good?

Rise has appeared in the Roundup before. The campaign has successfully funded multiple projects through Kickstarter, and now writer Trevor Fernandez-Lenkiewicz and artist Ryan Best are back to deliver a brand new edition.

Featuring a new wraparound cover and behind-the-scenes features and interviews with the creative team. Now, backers can follow the story of Jonathan A. Prufrock as he faces the perils of the male ego while trying to save the world. A superhero story for a new generation that is more aware of its insecurities and just as skeptical as its predecessors.

art of sunstone

Creator: Top Cow Productions, Stjepan Seijic (Artist)
Goal: $25,000
End date: December 18, 2025
Bonus: Get a digital copy for $15, a physical copy for $49, a deluxe bundle for $99, or at a higher tier, retail tier for $123.

Some art books are on the coffee table, but this one is underneath. Because this is a bad book and needs to be punished.

Seijic is best known for his art and work on Witchblade, Rat Queens, and of course Sunstone. His unique style sets him apart from the industry giants, and it’s no wonder the project has already raised more than $340,000 and is finally gathering backers in its final week.

It’s even crazier when you consider that this was Sejic’s final foray into comics. What started as a doodle and a last-ditch effort to get the project out there has now turned into a beloved fantasy comic that has taken him to new heights. If you’re a fan of fantasy, beautiful art, and exclusive collections, be sure to get this art book before it’s too late.

eternal war. Tabletop role-playing game.

Creator: Paul Bellanca (Creator/Writer)
Goal: $5,000
End date: February 3, 2026
Merchandise: Get the original Core Rules Book hardcover for just $100!

Were you there when the stars fell? When their impact shattered the bones of creation?

War Eternal caught my eye because of its rough sketches. It looked interesting, but more importantly, it felt like a dark fantasy that aimed to be different. Paul Bellanca explains that the project is intended to be a completely independent TTRPG, a community-driven project made up of various creators submitting their own content and expanding on the already growing world. That’s why he’s raising money through Kickstarter.

It may just be Bellanca now, but with more artists and creators being added to the project, it looks like it’s going to be something a whole community of TTRPG enthusiasts can build upon, and I can’t help but be excited about that. Notice this. You may get more than what is already promised.

Castle Grief sci-fi role-playing game

Arathi Sector is a Kickstarter offering a gritty, fast-playing sci-fi RPG that combines classic depth with modern ease of use. Built on a streamlined 2D6 system inspired by classics like Traveller, it offers dynamic, classless character creation, brutal tactical combat, and a wealth of tools for both group and solo play.

Every choice you make, from ship systems to weapon characteristics, matters, making gameplay tense, meaningful, and endlessly replayable. It looks really fun and a great addition to your TTRPG collection!
