Kingdom Come By Mark Waid and Alex Ross have become a groundbreaking series from DC Comics. It is one of the most acclaimed evergreen titles and has captured the hearts of superhero fans for decades. The Beat announces that The Legend of Kingdom Come, a documentary about the Make of the Legendary Comics series, has set up a 2025 premier date.
The film will premiere the US at Chicago’s historic Music Box Theatre on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, followed by an international premiere at Lake Como Comic Art Festival in Italy on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. The film is scheduled to be shown at world customs and festivals throughout the year.
Director Remsi Itasi said:
“Monkey and I had a great time making this film. We are excited to celebrate the release and share the production with live audiences throughout the year.”
To celebrate this opportunity, the Chicago event will feature special appearances from Attassi and producer Sal Abinanti, who will be present to showcase the film, followed by a Q&A. Blu-ray and special items will be available for purchase, but consumables will be the last one.

The documentary explores how Alex Ross’ artistic vision has reshaped the superheroes that have been redefined as comic art for generations. The film features commentary from the creative team of Mark Waid and Alex Roth, original footage and extensive interviews with famous comic industry figures, including Todd MacFarlane, Julie and Shawna Benson and Paul Dini. The Kingdom legend not only celebrates Ross’ groundbreaking work, but traces a lineage of comic art and storytelling that shaped modern pop culture and pleases viewers all over the world.
The documentary was launched last year as a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Backer received early access to watch the documentary and access to the Blu-ray version via the link. The documentary will now appear on the big screen over the next few months.

The film is directed and edited by Attasi, a Chicago-based filmmaker. His feature film directorial debut, Bad Animal (2022), was distributed via Emulsion Lab and attracted critical acclaim, including awards at festivals such as Faff and Tucson Film & Music Festival. Attasi’s previous works include award-winning short films such as One Way Out (2018) and The Liar (2013). Additionally, he is well known for his work in music videos and photography, and has been featured in well-known publications such as Rolling Stone, Forbes, Pitchfork, and Vice.
The film is produced by Abinanti, a veteran comic book producer and artist. As Ross’ longtime agent and business manager, Abinanti has contributed to the success of many acclaimed projects. His deep understanding of both the artistic and business side of comics has made him a respected figure in this field. He also created the indie comic series Atomika. His works often explore complex themes and present visually impressive stories.
