“Raising Marvel kids like I did and getting free reins to freely tell the best characters and storylines like Thor, your dreams come true,” Powell said. “I didn’t want to waste this opportunity, so I’m doing exactly what I want. It’s a big space adventure with a giant Kirby-style monster. Yeah, this book is definitely my love letter to Jack Kirby and Walt Simonson. I think their influence is clear.”
“Did you mention Cosmic Monsters? Cosmic… Monsters,” continued Powell. “My kids are whimsical and I’m grateful to the comic carts of Alex Ross, Marvel and Abrams for providing this project.
Ross added: “Eric Powell joins Marvel Arts is a big win. He praises us with his incredible skills as a storytelling master, and ultimately playing Thor Story is a match made in Asgard.
Thor: Black Moon of the Black Moon will be available in full-color, 80-page hardcover version in May 2026.
