A new edition of the sword-and-sorcery fantasy role-playing game Barbarians of Lemuria is currently being crowdfunded by Ludospherik Editions. The Mythic+ edition transports players to a near-prehistoric world in a post-apocalyptic world with a simple rules system. The Kickstarter is fully funded, and you can pre-order the 232-page softcover book (with PDF) for a donation of about $45 until September 18th, or get the PDF only for a donation of about $12. Delivery of the PDF is expected next month, with the softcover to follow in December.
About the book:
Barbarians of Lemuria (or “BoL”) is a heroic role-playing game set firmly in the sword and sorcery genre. Lemuria is a post-apocalyptic world set thousands of years in the future, a world unrecognizable to anyone today. Returned to a nearly prehistoric state, it is a land of steaming jungles, vast untamed wildernesses, terror-filled swamps, and sun-drenched deserts. Giant man-eating beasts roam the uncharted regions of Lemuria and beyond, from island-sized sea serpents capable of sinking war galleys, to gigantic jungle-dwelling dinosaurs capable of swallowing humans whole.
At the heart of this harsh world lies a vast city teeming with merchants, artisans, sailors and pickpockets. All kinds of people ply their trade in the squares, markets and docks beneath the city walls. Great palaces, temples and towers have been built to house the nobles, soldiers, priests and wizards who protect those inside the walls from the dangers without.
The uncharted lands are dotted with ancient ruins – temples, cities, tombs and palaces. These haunted structures lie untouched, cracked and overgrown with weeds and undergrowth, waiting to be discovered. Perhaps untold treasures lie hidden in their dark halls and silent corridors.
It is a land of legends, epics and myths. The blade’s owner, Frangars, and his descendants have created many legends for their exploits and adventures. But Lemuria is a powerful continent, and there are many more adventures and legends to come.
Barbarians of Lemuria is a role-playing game with few rules. It’s simple yet elegant (all you need are two six-sided dice). It allows for free action, encourages open interpretation, and allows for epic adventures. It’s easy to get started and will quickly captivate new and experienced players alike. Barbarians of Lemuria is a fast-paced, brave game full of action, magic, and swordplay. To emulate this, a simple rules set is needed so the game isn’t bogged down in unnecessary details.
