Superman Unlimited #4 may be a Superman book, but it’s clear that creators Dan Slot and Rafael Alberkhaki want to touch on all the characters associated with Steel’s Man, not to mention the wide range of the DC Universe. A proper case: This issue focuses on Jimmy Olsen and the genius teenager of Gorilla City, seeking to investigate the mystery surrounding Gotham City’s Daily Planet Branch.
Trouble raises the head in human form, and Jimmy pulls away from normal. Trigger his special signal clock and call Superman. Thanks to the high levels of Kryptonite around him, he is weaker than usual and is susceptible to biting that turns him into a Superman Bat. With the help of Damien Wayne, can Jimmy stop Superman’s mutant rampage?
Slot previously showed that other members of the Superman family could shine the spotlight in this comic, with Crypto making Superdog appear in a prominent position in the previous issue. Now he has the opportunity to show why Jimmy is considered a “sex with Superman.” Superman mutates into a bloodthirsty monster, and despite Jimmy running towards his life, Jimmy wants to help him no matter what. Tee-Nah also gets the opportunity to show off her genius. So for the first time in a long time, DC has intelligent gorillas who have not tried to kill Flash or conquer Earth. Damien Wayne also appears and you can play with the new character dynamics in the slot.

Superman Unlimited #4 is also the first time that artist Rafael Alberqureque has not explained the complete problem. Alberkerque describes a few pages (including an epilogue that sets up the next issue), but Lucas Meyer intervenes to do the bulk of the artwork. That’s not a bad thing as Meyer has a refined art style and a sophisticated art style that is suitable for movement. Whether it’s Damian, a raptor fighting the Superman bat, or a Superman bird swooping out of the sky to save its victims, Meyer makes the viewer’s eyes glue to the page.
Marcelo Maiolo and Matt Harms deserve a cry for how to make use of colour in Superman Unlimited #4. As the majority of the problem takes place in Gotham City at night, they take advantage of a dark palette that casts shadows around all colors, only broken by the bright light of the skyscrapers and the moon. It helps to set the tone of the story, and also gives the minutes a bit of terror as the giant bats fly around.
Superman Unlimited #4 switches to new artists and new cities. The only question is, where will the action go next when members of the Superman family get the spotlight?

Superman Unlimited #4 switches to new artists and new cities.
This issue shows that Superman’s mythology has no limitations on the lack of status in the DC Universe.
Slots shines the spotlight on Jimmy Olsen, showing why he is a member of Superman.
New artist Lucas Meyer has a very dynamic side to his art.
The coloured piece reflects the enduring night that is Gotham City.
Hopefully there will be more threats than just kryptonite on the horizon.
