Superman #23 Review

Superman #23 has an adversaries that can Warp Time, so it’s only a matter of time before certain events repeat themselves or give hints about the future. Both happen within a short time as Lois Lane finds her husband is in the same position as before the two problems. Meet the time trapper. How does she react when faced with the same choices he offered to Superman?

This issue not only serves as a mirror in Superman #20, but also as a way for Joshua Williamson to showcase how Lois and Clark handle the crisis. With Clark, he tries reason, but no matter what decision he makes, he stands. Using Lois begins her reporter’s instinct. She is always trying to understand the truth. But as she previously admitted, having the power of Superman made her cheeky…and it brings a shocking moment that spreads shockwaves to the rest of the matter.

It is also one of many moments aimed at setting up problems in the future. And the hint that Lex Luthor might be back to his villain nature, Superwoman wins her first priest, and the return of another Superman enemy, and even from DC All-in Special There are many moments, including hints that you’re picking up a loose plot thread. To Williamson’s credit, he makes it up in a way that unfolds naturally, but it still feels a bit like a narrative pile-up, given how self-contained the previous issues have been.

DC

Opinions may differ from story to story, but I sincerely doubt everyone has issues with Danmora’s artwork. Believe it or not, Mora refuses to slow down when it comes to blockbuster-level set pieces. The two-page sequence features the Superman family fighting the power of radiation, followed by crushing steel and glass. Another panel features an incensed Superman delivering a punchy Dragon Ball Z-level volley in Time Trapper’s face. What really scares me is the man with a shining red eyes of steel.

Mora’s Pièce de Résistance is located on the opening page where Lois and Time Trapper float outside of hours. Alejandro Sanchez uses a pale purple hue in the background, making him feel like the only person in motion. Everything from Jimmy Olsen taking snapshots to sparkle and Superman to stuffed in battle is frozen. Sanchez’s colour also plays a role in Superman’s “Arrass” mode, penetrating Ariana Maher’s lettering and making blood red. This is a very unsettling sight for Superman comics.

Superman #23 overcomes mountains of plot points with a shocking late twist, not to mention some intense battle scenes. There’s a lot going on as the book holds the barrels towards “Summer of Superman,” but it’s clear that DC is all-in on Steel’s Man this year.

Williamson makes a clear distinction between Clark and Lois’ behavior and how it works.

Mora refuses to draw anything that isn’t a piece of a blockbuster level, proving that he is one of the best in the game.

Color is used a lot, especially in Superman’s fury mode.

Big moments that I didn’t expect will have a huge impact.

Many plot lines are thrown to the reader.
