Multi-talented, award-winning comic artist Juni Ba (The Boy Wonder, Jeriya) returns to the dark fantasy anthology series Monkey Meat this March. In this five-issue chapter entitled ‘The Summer Batch’, B’s critically acclaimed satirical anthology, which takes on issues such as capitalism and climate change, returns to strength, and all will be told in a summer magazine-style issue.

“I needed this! Monkey Meat is a place where I have fun, shed corporate expectations and rules, and come up with comics that are cartoony, experimental, and infectious. They’re just as fun to read as they are to draw.” That’s great,” Juni Ba said in a statement through the image. “This is the manga I get the most requests to keep drawing, so I’m happy to oblige. This new batch has a more underground vibe. Like the manga, it’s on the floor of a Senegalese meat restaurant. You’ll see it gathering dust and rolling around. Dig!

Here’s a pictorial overview:

The critically acclaimed and delicious anthology, written and illustrated by Ba with special permission from Monkey Meat Company, is back for a second edition. The Monkey Meat Company, famous for its processed products, funds a bizarre experiment on Monkey Meat Island, which was once filled with magical creatures and is now home to a native island where even the devil has to pay rent. It turns out that the situation has turned into a hellscape of hyper-capitalism. And now summer is turning it into an ideal getaway. Are you planning to take a vacation this year? Come visit a fantastical hellish West African island run by a company that sells canned monkey meat. A brand new adventure that will entertain (and traumatize) the whole family. Embark! Exotic locales, a debt-collecting forest witch, and a superhero ape suing the corporation that owns him. All this awaits you.

The comic features a cover by Ba and begins with “Monkey Meat: The Summer Batch #1,” on sale in comic book stores on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Here are some interior artwork and covers to check out while you wait. !
