The new STORM series has people buzzing with anticipation about where Ororo Munroe’s solo adventure will go. Written by Murewa Ayodele and illustrated by Lucas Werneck, the new story not only redefines STORM as both a man and an Avenger, but also shows off a new costume.

“Fashion is one of the tools I always turn to for inspiration,” Werneck explains. “You can tell so much about a character through their clothing, and this type of visual storytelling is something I love, so you can imagine how excited I was when Marvel gave me the opportunity and space to work on the fashion of such an iconic character as Ororo.”

“We’re really trying to give her a sense of style,” he added. “I think she has this goddess-like aura, but at the same time she’s very human, so the challenge here is to capture all the aspects that define her: the way she dresses, the way she moves, the way she speaks, the way she lives her life. It’s a lot of fun, and I hope fans enjoy all the little details we’re creating for her and the surprises we’re in store for them in the series.”

Check out the new digs and find out more in the official Marvel press release below.

Starting next week, Storm will be soaring higher than ever in a new solo series.

Written by Murewa Ayodele and drawn by Lucas Werneck, Storm introduces Ororo Munroe as Earth’s Mightiest Mutant, defending the planet against high-level threats from her new headquarters, Storm Sanctuary, in Atlanta. Introducing her as an Omega-level powerhouse, it ushers in a glorious new era for the iconic X-Man, and with a new era comes a new costume. In addition to the eye-catching new main costume, Werneck has been busy designing all sorts of stunning looks for Storm’s upcoming adventures, and today fans can check out a reimagined version of Storm’s classic silver suit, which will debut in Storm #2.

Determined to make STORM their most epic series yet, Ayodele and Werneck’s first issue sees Storm diving headfirst into the brink of nuclear meltdown. From there, her story only escalates as she attracts the attention (and praise) of all-powerful cosmic forces like Oblivion and supervillains like Doctor Doom, who rank as her equal. As Storm solidifies her role as the world’s primary protector, she’ll need a costume that can handle any challenge. Fans can look forward to a variety of new additions to the character’s rich history, including armor, suits of cosmic power, and of course, high-fashion out-of-costume attire fit for a goddess.
