Steam Deck arrives in Australia in November

Australian gamers will no longer have to buy a Steam Deck from a reseller at exorbitant prices or import it into the country with the help of friends overseas. Valve announced at PAX Australia that it will start selling handheld PC game consoles in the country from November. Currently, Steam Deck is only available in the US, Canada, UK, EU, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong from Komodo’s website. However, Valve updated the console’s official page with an announcement: “Your games will be down by November 2024.”

Both LCD and OLED versions will be sold in Australia, with buyers buying the 256GB LCD version priced at AU$649. The 512GB OLED console will be priced at AU$899, while the 1TB OLED version will retail for AU$1,049. Valve released the OLED Steam Deck last year as a mid-cycle refresh with a better screen, battery life, better haptics, and overall better components than the original. OLED screens have thinner bezels, native HDR support, and faster frame rates.

While the LCD version isn’t as great as its newer sibling, we still think it’s one of the best handheld PCs on the market. It’s powerful enough to run most Steam games, including AAA titles, and it’s cheaper than OLED consoles.
