The latest issue of Skybound’s Transformers was released this week, concluding the second storyline: Today, Skybound released a preview for Transformers #13, which begins Starscream’s two-issue origin story featuring art by Jason Howard.

See the official press release below.

Today, Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and games company Hasbro, announced a lineup of interior pages and alternate covers (including a surprise secret alternate cover) for Transformers #13, the two-time Eisner Award-winning series from writer Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb), artist Jason Howard (Super Dinosaur) and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon). Transformers #13 kicks off Starscream’s two-issue origin story featuring art by Jason Howard, and will hit comic shops on October 9, 2024.

After a shocking event in the battle against the Decepticons, Starscream was presumed dead. The key to surviving the future may lie in looking back at his shocking past…

In addition to the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, the lineup of variant covers for Transformers #13 includes open order cover B by series artists Jorge Corona and Mike Spicer, a 1:10 incentive variant kicking off a new connecting cover series by Victor Bogdanovich (Detective Comics), a 1:25 incentive variant by cover artist Jorge Fornes (Rorschach), a 1:50 incentive variant by cover artist Francesco Matina, a 1:100 incentive variant by cover artist Homare, a blank sketch cover, and a surprise open order cover by Ludo Larrabee (cover artist, Harley Quinn).

Transformers is the cornerstone of the Energon Universe, the culmination of Hasbro’s historic collaboration with Skybound, which launched an entirely new era for the Transformers and GI Joe franchises in one comic book universe. Other Energon Universe titles include the ongoing series Void Rivals from writer Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), artist Lorenzo De Felici (Chroma), and colorist Patricio Delpech (Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country), and the upcoming GI Joe from writer Joshua Williamson (Superman, Dark Ride), artist Tom Reilly (The Thing), and colorist Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33). The Energon Universe also includes the GI Joe miniseries Duke by Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly, and Jordie Bellaire. Cobra Commander comes from Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song). Scarlett comes from writer Kelly Thompson (Black Widow, Birds of Prey), artist Marco Ferrari (Frontiersman) and colorist Lee Loughridge (I Hate This Place, Killadelphia). Destro comes from writer Dan Watters (Loki, Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!), artist Andrei Bressan (Dark Ride, Birthright) and colorist Adriano Lucas (Dark Ride, Birthright), bringing the iconic character from GI Joe and the Cobra faction to the Energon Universe. Fans can expect can’t miss moments in every issue of the Energon Universe. Because secrets will be revealed in the process of answering some of the biggest questions about the biggest franchise in comics today.

TRANSFORMERS #13 (Lunar Codes Below | $3.99) will be available in comic shops and on digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play, on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024.
