The Tokyo Game Show is taking place this week, with major publishers preparing their showcases over the coming days. Sony is getting ahead of its rivals, hosting its next State of Play on September 24th at 6pm ET.
The company plans to spotlight more than 20 PS5 and PS VR2 games during the 30-minute-plus stream, which will be available to watch in English or Japanese on YouTube and Twitch.
It seems very likely that we will see a release date for Horizon Lego Adventures, the final first-party game Sony has scheduled for release this year. The Until Dawn and Silent Hill 2 remakes will also surely be teased before their release in early October. There are also rumors of Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone remasters being released, so Sony might leak about those. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Marvel’s Wolverine are also among the titles that could be released in the future.
We’re hoping for a big surprise or two. Given that the PS5 Pro is just around the corner, hardware news seems unlikely. But this is a good opportunity for Sony to remind everyone about the PS1-style 30th anniversary editions of the PS5 console and controllers. (FYI, Sony might reveal the prices of those at State of Play.)
Meanwhile, let’s not forget that September 26th is The Last of Us day, and if we don’t hear anything about the series during State of Play, Sony will undoubtedly say something then. The release date for the PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered may be announced, but we should at least get an update on Season 2 of the HBO version.
