Sonos continues its internal housecleaning as it looks to recover from the blow it took after last year’s disastrous mobile app redesign. Chief product officer Maxime Bouva-Merlin is also leaving the company, a day after CEO Patrick Spence leaves the company. He will serve as an advisor to interim CEO Tom Conrad during the leadership transition period before leaving Sonos completely.
Conrad today notified Sonos employees of the latest leadership changes in a company-wide email. The CPO role will no longer be needed, and Sonos’ product teams will report directly to Conrad for the time being.
Sonos has been underperforming ever since it released an update to its mobile app in May, containing numerous bugs and missing important features. The company’s performance plummeted and it laid off about 100 employees in August. Sonos has made some efforts to inform customers of its plans to recover from the app’s release, but the decision to change top leadership appears to be the latest move to restore public confidence in the business.
