Here’s the latest news from Tiny Onion and friends about Something is Killing The Children. To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Slaugtherverse, Eisner Award-winning team James Tynion IV and Werther Del Edera will be expanding on the story with two special one-shots releasing in December.

First up, BOOK OF CUTTER will feature an epic finale that sees Maxine Slaughter transform from White Mask into Black Mash. The comic follows the final leg of Maxine’s journey across the Atlantic and into Europe to train with the mysterious and terrifying House of Cutter.

BOOK OF CUTTER #1 features a main cover by Dan Mora (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and variants by series co-creators Welter Derredera and Cully Randolph (Sirens of the City). Additional variants will be announced at a later date. It will be in stores on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2024, but you can also pre-order it at your local comic shop. Digital copies will be available on iBooks, Google Play, Kindle, and other content providers.

The second book is THE ART OF SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN COMPANION #1, a special issue featuring a curated collection of the most iconic covers from Something is Killing the Children created over the past five years. The book is the perfect way to relive Erica Slaughter’s harrowing journey, and will be available in comic shops on December 4th, 2024. Digital copies will be available in the same way as the BOOK OF CUTTER.

The covers for either book have yet to be revealed, but here’s the cover of Volume 1 as a reminder of what’s to come.

“It’s been so exciting to chart Maxine’s journey from Archer’s Peak to her new life as Black Mask, the only recognized presence in the House of Slaughter. These annual specials have been a fantastic way to explore and expand the world and legends of the Slaughterverse, and now, with Book of Cutter, we’ll be lifting the curtain on the Order of St. George itself,” said co-creator and series writer James Tynion IV. “As the Great Houses keep a watchful eye on the House of Slaughter, Maxine will also get a glimpse of the dangers that await the House in America…”

“After three books, Maxine Slaughter has become one of my favorite characters!” continued co-creator and series artist Werter Delledera. “I can’t wait to see what happens when Maxine and Erica’s paths finally cross!”

BOOK OF CUTTER and THE ART OF SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN COMPANION are the latest releases from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, which is home to acclaimed original series such as BRZRKR from Keanu Reeves, Matt Kindt and Ron Garney, Something is Killing the Children from James Tynion IV and Werter Deledera, the best-selling horror anthology Hello Darkness, Grim from Stephanie Phillips and Flaviano, Stuff of Nightmares from RL Stine and AL Kaplan, A Vicious Circle from Mattson Tomlin and Lee Bermejo, Ghostlore from Cullen Bunn and Leo Mac, Rare Flavours from Ram V and Filipe Andrade, Underheist from David and Maria Lapham, Animal Pound from Tom King and Peter Gross and Minor Arcana from Jeff Lemire. Also coming out are Vicarious by Ryan Parrott and Eleonora Carlini and The Creeping Below by Brian Azzarello and Vanessa Del Rey.

The imprint also publishes popular licensed titles such as Dune: House Corino by Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson and Simone Ragazzoni, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers by Melissa Flores and Simona Di Gianfelice, and The Expanse: Dragon’s Tooth by Andy Diggle, Rubine and Francesco Pisa.
