If you’re on the fence about buying the cityscape sim Cities: Skyline II (and who could blame you, given the reaction it received after its release?), now’s your chance to try out the free test version. Paradox Interactive announced on Bluesky that players can play the city-building game for free for a limited time.
Cities: Skylines II is available to play from now until December 9th. The free version is free to download and play on Steam and GeForce NOW.
The sequel to Colossal Order and Paradox’s hit city-building experience got off to a very rocky start over a year ago. Despite having a loyal fanbase that provided a lot of insight into the development of Cities: Skylines II, the reaction to its release was far from positive.
Fans were upset that Cities: Skyline II wasn’t released on PC and consoles at the same time, and was only released on PC. There was also criticism for increasing spec requirements a month before the game’s release. Players with powerful PCs encountered problems with the game even months after its initial release. Marina Harikainen, CEO of Colossal Order, wrote a blog post in January of the following year, stating that “the trend of increasing toxicity within our communities has never been greater than this.” Ta.
