Skybound, in partnership with Act 4 Publishing, debuts J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist’s Edition for the first time on Kickstarter, debuting a deluxe oversized hardcover celebrating the iconic art of the 1998 series. This marks the debut of the Danger Girl artist edition format, with over 150 pages of artwork recreated in full size for the ultimate collector’s experience.
The campaign, scheduled to launch at 6am Pt on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, offers fans the opportunity to sign up now for early updates and exclusive rewards. The book includes interior pages from the original miniseries, covers, model sheets, flipbook art, unusual sketches and page breakdowns.
The project was curated by Act 4 founder Scott Dunbier, who originally edited Danger Girl, and is well known for his work on the artist’s edition line. “It’s always been a thrill to see a new page coming from J. Scott,” said Dunvia. “This edition allows readers to experience the same adoration I felt.
For Campbell, the project is a dream come true. “I have been admiring Scott Dunvia’s artist editions for years, but I never thought I’d get the opportunity to showcase my work in this format,” he said. “Thanks to the contributions from collectors, we have put together a truly special collection for fans and art lovers.”
First published in 1998 by Campbell and author Andy Hartnell, Danger Girl became a breakout hit, defining comic book scenes from the late 90s with a blend of spy, humor and explosive action. Campbell’s dynamic and stylized art has an impact on the generation of creators and is extremely influential.
Available only from Kickstarter, the campaign offers a special variant cover to accommodate both the main book and bonus volume, signed book plates, art prints, apparel, pins, and more, as well as a limited edition slipcase. Backers will also have access to stretch goals and campaign-specific perks until October 8th, 2025 until 12pm.
“Danger Girl is a masterpiece by J. Scott Campbell. This edition is a homage to everything that will never be forgotten,” said Alex Antone, editor-in-chief of Skybound. “Every page bursts with energy and style. I can’t wait to get this.”
Skybound is not used to the success of Kickstarter. Transformers, Gi Joe: A Real American Hero and Ava’s Demon have launched a top funding campaign.
