Our friends at Silver Sprocket sent us some art for the new Bloody Mary by animator Nick Wynn. Although it features vampires, it’s not strictly a horror story, it’s a story about dating and romance. But there are also vampires.
Maria can’t wait to go on a secret date with Evan, the cute boy she’s had a crush on. However, their night out is sidetracked by Evan’s cousin, who needs to stop by The Stake, a vampire club, for just “10 seconds.” Will the night be ruined, or can the irresistible beats of house music change Maria’s mind?
This is Wynn’s first graphic novel, but he credits radio jazz, fighting games, Dragon Ball Z, Schoolhouse Rock, and episodes of Disney Comic Zone as influences. Nothing but the best!
Here’s a little preview – the book will be released on November 13th.
Kyle from Silver Sprocket sent us some other seasonal book previews.
In these pages, Ashley Robin Franklin takes you through the macabre corridors of eight haunting horror comics. Whether set in an arid desert or a rain-soaked forest, these stories reveal the fallacies of the flesh that lurk just beneath the surface. Strange desert flowers provide an intoxicating balm to sadness, a group of friends tell old tales around a campfire, and outside a secluded farmhouse, something miraculous and terrifying falls from the night sky. Bodies are discovered, lost, celebrated, borrowed, haunted, and irrevocably changed.
On the Friday before her 30th birthday, Kate convinces her friends to return to her hometown to celebrate. The plan was to break into an abandoned house and hold a séance, just like she had done in high school. A disturbing, genuine scream rent the air as the friends folded their hands over the Ouija board. What started out as a fun way to relive your punk youth before accepting the weight of adulthood turns into a night on the run from bloodthirsty cultists. Will they be able to find a way to escape from the suburbs alive?
