It’s been more than five years since we first heard rumors of a Section 31 spinoff, and we finally have a release date. Star Trek: Section 31 will be available exclusively on Paramount+ starting Friday, January 25th. The news was announced during the Star Trek Universe panel at Comic-Con over the weekend.
The film stars Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Philippa Giorgio, who she played in Star Trek: Discovery. She joins a “secret division of Starfleet” that must protect the United Planets while confronting “the sins of the past.” In addition to Yeoh, Star Trek: Section 31 also stars actors such as Sam Richardson and Omari Hardwick.
An adaptation starring Yeo, focusing solely on Section 31, has been in the works since 2019. At the time, CBS All Access (now Paramount+) announced that the TV show would focus on Captain Giorgio, played by Yeo. It was then officially cleared for production in 2023, but was instead made into a film. The news comes just a month after Yeoh won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. works fine).
