The anime storytelling, which wears boundaries with beast fans, is taking part in this summer’s snack. Anime Expo 2025 will host the world premiere of Sanda’s latest work by famous manga creator Paru Itagaki, the TV anime adaptation, at JW Marriott’s Platinum Ballroom, from 12:30pm to 1:50pm on July 4th. The panel also features discussions with creators and exclusive early screenings of the highly anticipated series produced by acclaimed animation studio Science Sal (Dandadan, stay away from Aidsken!).

While the anime takes place in Los Angeles, manga fans are looking forward to bringing Sanda home thanks to Titan Manga, the series’ English publisher. Sanda Vol. 1 arrived at bookstores and online retailers on September 2, 2025, and pre-orders are now available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and Forbidden Planet (UK/Europe). Volume 2 continues on November 18th, 2025.

What is Sanda?

In nearby Japan, where Christmas is fading into mythology and children are treated as the most valuable resource in society, adolescence is artificially extended, and the magic of childhood has almost disappeared. That is until Sanda Kazushige, a seemingly ordinary middle schooler, enters a dangerous mystery that includes a missing classmate, a long-lost holiday, and a girl he believes to be cursed.

Together with Shiori Fuyumura, Sanda embarks on a surreal, heartfelt journey that combines nostalgia, fantasy and keen social commentary. This is Paru Itagaki’s unique storytelling hallmark. The 16-volume manga series rethinks seasonal myths with suspense twists, tackles themes of identity, belief, and grows in a world where dreams are forgotten.

About the creator and publisher

Best known for her Eisner nominated series Beathers, Pal Ishima continues to challenge genre conventions at Sanda, combining whimsical world building with emotional depth and timely all stories.

Titan Manga, an imprint from Titan Publishing, is proud to lead Sanda to an English-speaking audience for the first time. Titan Manga, which has a reputation for high quality releases and fan-focused storytelling, ensures that Sanda’s powerful themes and impressive artwork will reach global readers.
