Sabrina the Teenage Witch comes to DC KO

Hidden in the Blue Sky, DC editor Chris Conroy revealed that the company’s ongoing fantasy punch-em-up crossover DC KO will bring in yet another guest star from outside of DC’s multiverse.

That would be Sabrina, star of Archie Comics’ Sabrina the Teenage Witch and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Wearing a black top and riding a broom, Sabrina appears on the variant cover of DC KO Boss Battle #1. The battle pits DC heroes and villains against the likes of Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero, Red Sonja, and Samantha from Under the Tree.

Below you can see such an image.

The revelation that Sub-Zero, Annabelle the Doll, and other non-DC characters would be appearing in DC KO was one of the most talked about announcements at October’s New York Comic Con.

“They asked, and I said, ‘Evidently yes, that’s great,'” Beneath the Trees author Patrick Horvath told Comic Book Club that weekend.

Sabrina was not one of the originally announced crossovers, but was announced when Third Eye Comics posted several variant covers on their Bluesky account.

“Have you announced Sabrina the Teenage Witch yet? Well, there’s Sabrina,” Conroy posted. “This comic is a big mess and I love that we’re doing it.”

“There may be more after that, but these are the only things set in stone,” DC Publishing’s Jim Lee said at the time.

Obviously, it turns out there are more characters…and that makes us curious that other characters who don’t appear on the cover might appear in the comic.

Oni Press publisher Hunter Gorinson seems pretty excited about the development, reposting Conroy’s official document using the “eyeball” emoji.

Other variations on Boss Battle include Horvath’s cover featuring the Joker and Samantha, and Darick Robertson’s cover depicting Superman confronting Homelander from The Boys. Of course, Robertson co-created The Boys, along with other iconic creator-owned titles such as Transmetropolitan and Happy!
