This October, Age of Revelation launched a dramatic new era of Marvel, promoting the X-Men in a future where Doug Ramsey, the heir to Apocalypse, now known as the Revelation, built a mutant utopia with the power of his voice. What begins as a paradise promise will quickly grow into a global acquisition, as humanity is pushed onto the brink.

The Saga begins in an Age of Revelation: Overture #1 is a one-shot of the Powerhouse X-Men team of writer Jed Mackay and artist Ryan Stegman. On sale October 1st, the issue is the basis for a bold line of the New Age of Revelation’s title and a bold rethink of the current X-Men landscape.

Stegman led on the main cover, with variations from Aaron Cooder, Mark Bagley, Corey Smith and Ricky Yagawa. Stanley “Artgerm” Lau also offers a stunning take on Psylocke, available in both standard and virgin variant editions.

In this future vision, revelation fulfills the apocalyptic order that create a world that only the strongest durability can withstand. Using his amplified mutant gift, Doug bends the earth itself to form the homeland of the mutants. This is an obvious paradise that hides devastating truths as it spreads across the continent. By this time, the territory of revelation had grown from the Atlantic to Mississippi, and was ruled under an iron utopia. However, as a crude band of X-Men collisions from the shadows to ignite resistance, the rebellion is upset.

As Mackay told AIPT on X-Men on Monday, the thrill of this setting is in a “secret history” that it reveals and catches up to the characters after a decade of upheaval, leaving enough mystery to discover how their lives and relationships have changed, and readers still speculate on what’s coming.

This is where the dawn of the age of revelation begins. Pre-order this weekend at your local comic shop!
