2025 marked Robert Kirkman’s return to San Diego Comic-Con, and he arrived with a bang. He was able to join Kirkman’s panel, where he talked about his upcoming projects for Image Comics and Skybound. Invincible is the biggest topic of discussion, and Kirkman wasted no time revealing that Battle Beast is coming to the Invincible vs game! He also revealed that Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1 is the fourth printing. This is an impressive record.

The Invincible Animated series has also been renewed for its fifth season, with Kirkman revealing that Matthew Rice (American) will speak out about the reptile villain dinosaur! The new artwork also introduced the show’s views on dinosaurs, which brought him to life in full. Kirkman said he was excited to do the season 4 storyline, bringing Mark Grayson to Hell, citing that other superhero stories did the same thing.

This has led Kirkman to talk about upcoming comics. In addition to the amazing reprint of Wolfman and Tech Jackets, Kirkman revealed that Die! die! die! And Battle Pope will receive his Deluxe Hardcover in September. “Battle Pope is the stupidest book I’ve done, but I’ll die! I’ll die! I’ll die! I’ll die! I’ll be the craziest,” he said.

The Invincible Universe: Battle Beast is not the only manga to return to the invincible world. Kirkman said he and Mark Englehart would “paint fresh paint” on Cape, a short-lived series about superheroes that treat crime combat as 9-5. In addition to dialogue and art revamps, the series is expected to continue until 2026, helping Benito Sereno (Brad & Thunder) write the mission.

Kirkman shifts away from the invincible world and does Skin Breaker, a fantasy book that works with David Finch (Cyberforce, New Avengers). Kirkman said he wanted to work with Finch “decades” to the point where it took eight years for Skinbreaker to appear. To get a full grasp of what the duo put into the series, SkinBreaker also receives the “Treasury” edition, which has a larger page, showing off Finch’s work in all its glory.

The energy universe is also hot. Kirkman has taken over Dan Mora (Unlimited Justice League) and Transformers, joining forces with Andrei Bressan (Gi Joe, Cobra Commander) for Void Rivals #25, which launches Quintesson War. Both Kirkman were EC. Hasbro also pointed out that he was making the SDCC exclusive rival figures and expressed regret in hoping that he would not have to take over the transformer from Daniel Warren Johnson.

Kirkman also revealed that the invincible will come to other media outside of television and video games. The overwhelming classic card game has returned with expansions for invincibility, the Walking Dead and other image comic icons such as Witchblade and Savage Dragon. Free League is also developing an invincible RPG. Kirkman also said that it is open to other Skybound/Images properties that invincible is getting treatment.

Early on, Robert Kirkman said 2025 was adopting 25 writing. It’s an impressive career. He has not only created some great comics in the form of Invincibility and the Walking Dead, but continues to mark image comics. I hope the next 25 years will be just as impressive.
