Legendary director and producer Ridley Scott has found his next project ahead of the Nov. 15 release of his latest film, Gladiator II. According to Deadline, Scott’s label, Scott Free, will release three films in partnership with another production company, Mechanical Cake. Original graphic novel series: Modville, Hyde, Nick. Radical Publishing co-founder Dave Elliott serves as the book’s editor-in-chief, and other creators include Bill Sienkiewicz, Chris Weston, Dan Panosian, and Brian Rood.

Few details have been revealed about the comic, but Modville is a sci-fi/Southern Gothic crime drama set in a futuristic New Orleans and involving AI humans (the “Mods”), who are the co-founders of Mechanical Cake. CEO Jesse Negron wrote the script, and Hendry did the art. Prasetya (Power Rangers) and Eko Puth (Mysterious Ways). Vol. 1 of 8 will be available for pre-order in March 2025.

Meanwhile, Hyde is a sequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s horror classic, about the titular villain setting up a human experimentation laboratory underground in London, while Nick takes inspiration from Norse mythology. A Christmas war story. “First previews” of both series, whose production teams have not yet been finalized, are also scheduled to be released in March.

Negron was a protégé of Ridley’s late brother Tony Scott and worked with them as executive producers on the 2002 CBS reality series American Fighter Pilot. He moved into comics by 2013, writing Heavy Metal magazine that year, and co-founding Mechanical Cake with COO Tom Saunders in 2015. Scott, 86, praised Negron, Sanders and Elliott in a press release, saying: Great company. They understand the art of graphic novels. As an artist and painter, these projects are exciting to me and I look forward to collaborating with Jesse, Tom, Dave, and the Mechanical Cake team. ”

Tom Moran, Scott Free’s senior vice president of development and production and Tony’s former assistant, added: And art was what drove them both to make films. For the first time in Scott Free’s history, we’re excitedly diving into comics as a new way to explore art and storytelling. ”

Negron commented in a statement: You can decide if it’s worth your time. ” You can sign up for comics updates and contact Mechanical Cake through their official website in the meantime.
