Splinter is back from the dead, but how did he come back? And why?

Yes, this is a very brief overview by my standards. But there are so many exciting reveals in this issue that it seems foolish to reveal more than necessary.

I’m not happy with the Turtles’ sudden detective work to figure out who Splinter has been transforming into since his return, but I can’t find any other faults, although one or two sequences suffer a little from relying too much on exposition.

The information revealed here is great, the artwork (by the always reliable Freddie E. Williams II) reaches new heights, and the cliffhanger is just amazing.

There’s magic in the little moments, like the scene that takes place in the pizza parlor, and it’s beautifully executed.

I was really nervous about the series when previous writer Jason Aaron left the show, but the drama hasn’t missed a beat and things are looking a little brighter and more optimistic now.

IDW has been losing ground when it comes to TMNT comics for years, but I feel like we’re in the middle of a golden age for the Turtles right now.

Not bad for a cast of characters invented more than 40 years ago to take the piss out of edgy, Frank Miller-esque cartoon violence, right?

Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human-generated content (that’s never been plagiarized or copied through the efforts of other writers), please help us keep this site running by making a donation.

Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (although I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.

Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Please support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will not only help me keep the lights on here, but will also help keep my writing dreams alive. However, please understand that there is no pressure. I hope you enjoy reading my article.
