Of course, if you read Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13, you know who Ujigami is. I feel like screenwriter Gene Luen Yang was a little too quick on this point. Because it might have been much more interesting to keep us in the dark with the Turtles themselves. Even if the issue were finally revealed here, it might still have been left a mystery, except perhaps for one or two brief moments in the story, which otherwise would have had to be postponed.
Still, even if there are failures there, it’s hard to fault the art at all when Freddie Williams II is firing on all cylinders again. Chunky, impactful figures and truly memorable action sequences are the rage here, and his art style is always a perfect fit for the Turtles.
I was a little worried about former writer Jason Aaron’s departure, but despite my (admittedly very minor) points about the writing, the series seems to be in pretty good shape so far.
