The crew of the spaceship Godzilla is captured and trapped by the enemy (Kycilians). As Ayan survives a seemingly deadly crisis and learns who her grandmother and supposed friend Rohan were working for, more revelations emerge. But is everything as it seems? And will the crew be able to escape the clutches of the Sirians, who threaten the safety of thousands of innocent lives?
What a problem this was! I love this Western style, and its atmosphere and themes have echoes of Cowboy Bebop, Firefly, and Guardians of the Galaxy. This is a very smart use of the Godzilla license and a worthy addition to IDW’s glorious shared universe “Kai-sei Era” Godzilla comics. While some fans may be disappointed by the lack of kaiju action in Kai-sei Era’s title, it’s a smart move to add some giant kaiju action and introduce empathetic human characters between the large-scale action sequences.
I’m a big fan of what writer Chris Gooch and artist Oliver Ono are doing here in this intergalactic corner of the Godzilla universe. It’s thrilling, brilliantly produced, and the concept of a ragtag team of big-hearted bastards is something I’ve always bought into. I’m really looking forward to the final installment of this first story arc.
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human-generated content (that’s never been plagiarized or copied through the efforts of other writers), please help us keep this site running by making a donation.
Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (although I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.
Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
