Over the past few years, Dynamite has published many licensed comics based on Disney properties. Most notably from beloved 90’s Disney afternoon blocks such as Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck. This weekend ahead of Comic-Con in New York, the publisher announced a comic crossover event that will excite fans with Gargoyles/Darkwing Duck in January this year.

More thrilling crossovers include creators of Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck, Greg Weisman and Tad Stones, respectively, as authors joined by artist Ciro Cangialosi. Letterer Fabio Amelia concludes the core team.

Details of the official press release for this Gargoyle/Dark Wing Duck Crossover:

In the 1990s, the beloved Disney afternoon television show block inspired many fans and has done so for generations to this day. Two shows with a spirit inspired by the superhero genre stand out from the pack, depicting powerful heroes who protect the city from all sorts of evil people. With fan favorite characters and vast lore, Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck had an indelible impact on viewers. Currently, the major creators behind both myths are gathering for an unprecedented comic book event!

When Demona uses a mysterious magic mirror to recruit Morgana Macauber to cause mass destruction, the Darkwing Duck and Launchpad Mackey Cook – actually boarding Thunder Cook – go to Manhattan. They quickly cross the path with Goliath and Elisa. It may be time for a misunderstanding brawl between classical heroes and heroes.

Greg Weisman is the respected writer and producer behind several hit animated series, a long legacy of comics, and Gargoyles is his Magnum opens across both media. Since 2022 he has constantly documented the new stories of his stone guardian in dynamite, and the comics have picked up things where he left. He continues to embody the character’s deep bench arc, and now in this series there is a whole new relationship to tackle his magic.

“When I first started developing with Walt Disney TV Animation, the first show I’ve ever worked on was Dark Wing Duck, where I learned to gig under TAD,” said co-writer and Gargoyle creator Greg Weissman. “So there doesn’t seem to be anything more appropriate than TAD and I teaming up to bring fans of both properties to this crossover event!”

The talented Tadstones are no rookies either, and have been working directly under Disney’s umbrella for nearly 30 years. He played a key role in developing other Disney afternoon staples, including Chip’N Dale: Rescue Ranger and Aladdin and Hercules follow-up series. His most iconic creation is the only Drake Mallard known to the criminals of St. Canard as the Dark Wing Duck. He’s recently returned. There is a stunning series of covers from creators Daniel Kibblesmith, Ted Blunt and Roco Stein. This Titanic team-up with Wiseman marks his first time writing Darkwing in 15 years!

“Greg was part of the developments from the show’s beginnings, so there was no problem entering the world of DW,” said co-writer and darkwing creator Tadstones. We exchanged notes and sketched out visual gags when the words failed me. Working with a team of creative artists and writers has always been the best part of my career, and this crossover is a new highlight. ”

The world of Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck Colliding is not a chapter of comic mistakes. Editor Nate Cosby has assembled the cover’s top name All-Star team. Italian Master Ivan Bigarella delighted fans of Duck Tales. Clayton Henry’s superhero artwork suits these unique heroes well. Recent dynamite superstar Declan Charvey has made some fun additions. Then both Tad Stones himself and Ciro Cangialosi double the inner page where the cover is.
