How can we go wrong with the catchphrase that reads “Sword of omens, gives us cuteness beyond the cutest things”? Dynamite’s Thundercats/Powerpuff Girls Crossover Event is set to stand on shelves in store in June.

Paulina Gancheau and the creative team of Coleman Engle chatted with a beat about pairing and why this team-up had to happen.

Deanna Destito: Why is this crossover so good?

Paulina Gancheau: Well, fun is always a good idea. Thundercats x PowerPuff Girls Crossover Book is definitely falling into the fun category! But honestly, that’s how two quirky superhero teams broke together in the magical world of Third Earth. Anything can happen! That alone is enough reason to see what adventure this crew can take.

Coleman Engle: Two fun colorful ensembles working together to solve mutual problems? What’s good? !

Destito: How did this pairing happen?

Ganucheaau: Editor Nate Cosby brought this idea at first. This team up is really inspired, so he might be a genius. From there, I wanted Coleman Engle as an artist right away. He’s already become a killer!

Engle: Thankfully, I was asked to join this wild ride! Have fun here!

Destito: What’s your favorite character in both properties?

Ganucheau: At this point they’re all starting to feel like my kids, but my favorites as children were panro, cheetahra, blossom and buttercup. Yes, I’m a nuisance person who can’t choose one of my favorites. They’re all cool!

Engle: My favorites were mutants, lion-O, snarf and flowers as a child. But now I love drawing them all and everyone is becoming my favorite! It’s so much fun to draw only Thundercats hair.

Destito: Could you tell me a little about the plot?

Ganucheaau: I don’t want to give too much, but here’s the lowdown: Powerpuff Girls fight Mojo Jojo on Earth, he locks them in a rocket and sends them through wormholes, the girls are now left behind on the third Earth, they have to help the lightning in their current predicament! Butt Buh!

Engle: Classic Fishout of Water Idea is packed with so much sparkle, sparkle and nostalgia, bringing it to up to 1 billion people.

Destito: How will this crossover affect their world?

Ganucheaau: I don’t know if I can answer this without ruining things! For now I just say: lasting friendships occur.

Engle :: -X

Destito: How have you worked with this team?

Ganuchi: Amazing. I love working with Coleman. We’ve been friends for a long time, so everything feels like a true collaboration. It’s great to work together. He is also one of the most talented cartoonists around, so it’s an honor to write anything for him!

Engle: Ah, thank you Paulina! It feels exactly the same! Working with Paulina is a dream come true, and she tells a beautiful story with ease. She’s the best! We grew up on many of the same shows, video games and comics. That’s why it feels like this series is making a Saturday morning manga!

Destito: Are there fan teasers?

Ganucho: Thundercats as a monster. That’s all I say.

Engle: An endless bag of snarf tricks!
