Panasonic TVs have been off the U.S. market for over a decade, which is odd because the company makes good products. Either way, our nation’s nightmare is over. The Japanese electronics giant has just released a series of new TVs for American customers.
The release is split into two lines of OLED displays and another line of Mini LED TVs. The TVs range in size from 55″ to 85″ and are all designed and developed in Japan. As expected, all of the TVs boast 4K resolution and Panasonic’s claim of “superior picture quality.”
Panasonic has also partnered with Amazon on these displays, with each model having Fire TV built in. This partnership should make it easier for Panasonic to add a US-specific UI after a decade of disappearance in the US.

Why come back now? The company says it “strongly believes there is unmet demand for televisions, especially among consumers who demand the highest picture quality, which prompted us to re-enter the U.S..” This is just corporate subterfuge, but the real reason seems to be a word that rhymes with “shmoney.” The U.S. is a huge market.
Though Panasonic hasn’t sold a TV in a decade, the company maintains an active presence in the US: It sells a range of popular standalone cameras and is building a huge EV battery factory in Kansas.
The company’s new TVs are available to order now, but won’t start shipping until September 16th. Prices range from $1,300 to $3,200 depending on the model and size.
