Oni Press is aiming to actually break the internet in one or more ways, according to Dark’s release of #1.
The publisher has dropped a trailer for Dark #1. This has removed #1, the first issue of a true story that is only told through comic books. Dave Hill, a comedian, writer, satirist and musician, reveals in the dark about #1’s Dark All Tail about his double life in 2004, the lead singer and only member of the demon black metal band called witch Tone. Hill mentioned it earlier in an interview with Malcolm Gladwell in 2018, which states, “it’s the first time I’ve finally learned all the details about the long-standing internet hoax that have mistakenly touched on the international Mayhem trail, including the attempt to sacrifice the temptation of the temptation and the destruction of Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant in the Last Free Rest.
Drawn by Artyom Topilin (Cruel Universe, I hate this place), Dark resurrs #1 also features cover artist Andrew Krahnke, who describes cover B, Scott Sugiuchi. And get this: the darkness will become even darker. Because the first problem features a very limited 1:50 “human blood” cover, featuring a 1:50 “human blood” cover drawn by Dave Hill.
Oni Press explains Dark Tore #1 as follows:
Twenty years ago, Dave Hill and his first band tried to shake their high school auditorium with the rage of heavy metal Hellfires. They failed miserably. A few years later, Dave created a new life for himself as a rising star in the New York comedy scene. Being laughed at on stage is not just a tragic outcome, but a career that is the overall point. However, when Dave’s metal ambitions are awakened by the self-respecting “devil” genre of Norwegian black metal Uber, Dave creates an incredibly hyperbolic alter ego and band, together rekindling the sparks of his forgotten rock and roll fantasy. But the rumors of Dave’s internet-fueled witch slander (when the music is played that says that metal bands “need to remove extremely sharp objects from close by,” his story goes dangerously out of control as Norway’s most extreme black metal butchers come. Hey, that’s a minor phor).
Priced at $4.99 on 32 pages, Dark will be released on May 13th, 2025.
