Oni Press has announced creator Michele Fischels’ debut graphic novel Outline. The Beat has all the details.
The synopsis is a coming-of-age story about a group of teenagers through their senior year of high school. The main character, Ben, wants to enjoy the end of summer vacation with his girlfriend Clara, but the transition to adulthood is not so easy.
Here’s the full synopsis:
Ben is determined to enjoy the end of summer with his girlfriend Clara, but the mood gradually darkens when she, like his best friend Andreas, begins to withdraw without explanation.
Tensions between Ben and Clara mount throughout the school year, while Andreas battles his own demons, with final exams suddenly looming, along with the inevitable questions from friends and family: “What do you do after school?” Where do you register? Are you moving? What’s next? Perhaps the answer for Ben and his classmates is to simply slow down and take a deep breath…
The Beat can reveal the interior and cover art below.
“Outline is a beautifully expressed meditation on what it really means to grow up and what it means to see the world with a fresh, unfiltered perspective,” said Sierra Hahn, editor-in-chief of Oni Press. “Fischel’s fluid line art and expressive characters create a deeply relatable coming-of-age story about growing up and the pressures of having it all figured out.”
The outline will be available everywhere the book is sold on August 28, 2026.
