Star Wars: Jedi Knights, which takes place before The Phantom Menace, stars the Jedi Knights that fans have known from the prequel trilogy, including Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Featuring legendary characters such as Yoda, Count Dooku, and Mace Windu. more. In addition to featuring the iconic and fan-favorite Jedi duo, the series introduces all new Jedi characters who served the Republic during this pivotal time. Each issue spotlights a different Jedi duo on different missions across the galaxy, but an overarching threat unites them. Who is the mysterious new villain targeting Qui-Gon Jinn’s life, and how will he evolve the Jedi Order into a new era?
Editor Mark Paniccia promises, “Mark and Madibec deliver a blockbuster first issue with a cliffhanger that launches one action-packed issue after another featuring your favorite knights.” I have literally never seen so much lightsaber action in a comic book!”
This comic book setting avoids potential problems that Marvel could have encountered after the end of its ongoing Star Wars series. The series was set in the year between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. If the original trilogy’s heroes had appeared after the Galactic Civil War, there would have been an increased risk of conflicting with the story being built in The Mandalorian and its spinoffs (which take place immediately after the trilogy). . While there are canonical books and comics set in the years immediately preceding The Phantom Menace (such as Marvel’s Yoda Maxi series, to which Guggenheim contributed), it remains safe and relatively unexplored new territory.
Star Wars: Jedi Knights #1 is scheduled for release sometime in March, with a main wraparound cover by Rahza (seen above) and a lightsaber foil variant cover by Taurine Clark. Meanwhile, Marvel’s current “Battle of Jakku” trilogy, which concludes the Civil War era of comics, is scheduled to conclude in January.
