Following last year’s summer adventure, DC again led Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman on another adventure as Gotham City Siren. On behalf of each character’s series (as is this), the previous series was a fun adventure that didn’t do too much to advance the series, and became an excuse to win cash in Gotham City Siren branding (which could possibly be extended copyright). Now, DC must have paired the trio again with return writer Leah Williams, and the sirens were back and ready for space!
Well, a bit. The “trajectory” part of the title actually refers to Lunaria, Gotham’s most exclusive nightclub. Catwoman believes the club is a front line of a vault of precious artifacts, and it’s the “conduit” that really pricked her interest. Catwoman is recruiting Harley to serve as a distraction artist, but Harley loops with Ivy. With three plans, they attend the night of the open house in Lunaria and expect a simple job. But which robbers can disappear smoothly? Certainly, the conduit is not an artifact, it is not a more lively, breathing creature. And it’s not the place run by a surprising longtime DC villain!

As someone who hasn’t read Harley Quinn or Catwoman’s Ongoing and Trade Poison Ivy, I’ve been a bit hesitant to jump right into the track. Have I lost all of my losses, especially with how much change can be made in a year ongoing? Thankfully, it wasn’t here. As Leah Williams’ script is light enough to jump up and down each lead’s current status QUO without information dumping. Williams’ script is full of fun heist ratios that please or annoy you, depending on where you stand with its subgenre (thank you, I’m a huge fan). As expected, the interaction between all three women is as fun as ever, despite the differences in life today.
Matteo Lolli hasn’t returned to orbit, but Haining is here to make his own mark in the series. Taiwanese artists have a wonderful expressive style that is the perfect mix of American and cartoon influences, bringing a cool mix of American figures and cartoon flows. It’s really unique and stands out from the other cartoons on the stand and the style I’m used to with Poison Ivy. These pages have a great sense of play, and Hainnin’s design for Harley, Ivy and Catwoman nightclub looks was made for cosplayers this year.
Anyone who is worried that the characters are not up to date to check out Gotham City Sirens should cast those horrors on by those who are not worthy of the trajectory. This is a fun and refreshing adventure that is probably not too important for Reed’s main series, but should it be? A lot of the fun of the comics is just watching our favourites play with each other, and not suitable for Orbit is a great miniseries to just pick up and try. If you’re looking for fun comics to steal a portion of your time, these women are the right fit for the job.
“Gotham City Siren: Not Suitable for Track” #1 is a refreshing and stylish reunion
