When No Man’s Sky launched in 2016, Hello Games made it available on the platforms available at the time: PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Over time, it was also released for the PS5, Xbox Series X and S consoles, Nintendo Switch, PS VR1 and 2, and other virtual reality devices for computers. Now, developers are rolling out cross-save and cross-play across all of these platforms, allowing fans to pick up where they left off even if they switch devices.

Hello Games says No Man’s Sky players can spend thousands of hours exploring the world and building elaborate bases, so adding the ability to transfer save data is especially important to the team. He said it was difficult. The developer likened CrossSave to moving a house: “The longer people live there, the more complex it becomes to move.” The company said it has been gradually introducing this technology into the game over the past six months to be able to release this feature today. Players can now link their accounts through the game’s official cross-save page, but only “some users” will see the option to select saves from multiple devices on the in-game save screen. This feature will be available to all players in the coming weeks.

In addition to allowing players to play the same game across platforms, Hello Games is also rolling out an enhanced version of No Man’s Sky for PlayStation 5 Pro, which launches today. The console’s AI-powered technology, called “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution,” upscales games to 4K at 60 fps, but players can instead choose to explore the world at 8K resolution, 30 fps . This enhanced version also includes improved lighting, ultra-high-quality reflections, and high-quality ambient occlusion in all modes. All of these features are also included in the PS VR2 headset.
