Nintendo is recruiting 10,000 testers to get first access to a mysterious, unnamed Switch Online feature. The entire post is pretty vague, and there’s no solid clue as to what features exactly they’re testing, but it does say that only those with a valid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership can participate in the “Playtest Program.” Masu. Nintendo’s $50 annual Switch Online expansion pack adds Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance games to the subscription service’s game library. Users will also have free access to downloadable content for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Splatoon 2.
Testers must also be at least 18 years old and have an account registered in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain. Switch Online subscribers who wish to participate should scroll to the bottom of Nintendo’s announcement and click the “Go to application page” link to submit your application.
The company will begin accepting entries today, October 10th at 8:00 am PT/11:00 am ET and will continue to accept entries until November 5th at 4:59 pm PT/7:59 pm ET. If there are a large number of applications, Nintendo will select participants in Japan by lottery. Others will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so you might want to hurry if you want to participate. Additionally, if the number of participants quickly reaches capacity, application acceptance may end early.
