Dynamite Entertainment has announced a new title in the popular Disney villain line. Paulina Gancheau (Powerpuff Girls) and award-winning artist Theo Stultz lead the comics.

Read more from the publisher below:

The Forbidden Mountain Queen returns to the entirely new story of the villain story shortly after she levelled out the infamous curse on Princess Aurora. This grumpy new adventure follows a power-hungry regent as she tries to strengthen her dark powers. Maleficent’s plan is to make herself immortal to any threat to her rule by strengthening her arsenal of magical energy.

When she embarks on this nightmare goal, her goblin minions return from the raid carrying mystical, shining grimoires. Between its covers the power that can deliver a well filled with almost unlimited power to the Queen. However, in order to fully own and take advantage of this dark force, Maleficent must leave her kingdom safe and adventure into unfamiliar, dangerous territory.

“Maleficent is the top tier (if not the best of all) Disney villain,” said writer Ganucho. “She feels very authentic evil in all her pursuits. With medieval mythology and dark magical roots, she is so iconic. As a longtime fan, it’s truly an honor to contribute creatively to her cultural stamps.

Both Ganucheau and Stultz will offer variant covers to the series, with artists Ellery Santos and Robert Quinn joining them.

The series follows the first Dynamite Saga, in which Maleficent stars Thule. Disney Villain: Maleficent #1 will be in the store this October!
