Signify has launched a more future-proof version of the Philips Hue Sync Box, the company’s device that connects to your TV to create a light show that’s synced with the on-screen content. Unlike the original 2019 model, the upgraded box supports HDMI 2.1, making it better suited for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box supports resolutions up to 8K 60Hz for video and 4K 120Hz for gaming. In theory, this should make your Hue-powered light shows smoother and more true to life. Even if you don’t have the latest generation of gaming consoles or a compatible TV, the box will be ready for any gear you buy in the future.
Meaning
The box can sync with up to 10 color-enabled Hue lights. As with previous models, you can adjust the brightness and intensity to your liking in the Hue app. The system also works with voice assistants from Alexa, Google, and Siri, a feature the company added to older models during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K is available now from the company’s website , priced at $350.
