Dark Horse has announced Yucatan 1512, a new graphic novel by Alex Vede. Weaving Yucatan mythology into his evocative and colorful style, this story is a bloody tale of betrayal and redemption that will reach adventurous readers in May 2025. It will be available in bookstores on May 6th and in comic shops on May 7th.

So what is Yucatan 1512?

In 1512, a Spanish expedition landed on the Yucatan Peninsula in search of the legendary Mayan city of gold. Sorolla, a grizzled old soldier filled with remorse, seeks oblivion in a foreign land. When the commander kills one of the natives, Sorolla rebels against the force to save her child from a similar fate.

The quest for the city of gold turns into a manhunt. The two flee through the jungle in search of a place where they can escape the onslaught of Spanish soldiers that follow. But deep within that jungle, in the heart of an ancient city, lie giant warriors waiting to be summoned with a vengeance.
