Dark Horse Comics has announced Synthetics Volume 1, a new fourth-issue miniseries now released in October by legendary Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Strakinski (Captain America) and artist Tony Parker (Mass Effect: Foundation). Syntetics blends science fiction and dystopian drama to explore an incest earth destroyed by ecological collapse and social unrest. Here, the only hope of humanity lies in the synthetic being created to ensure survival.
Straczynski describes the series as a meditation on the core questions that mean being human. As angry gangs control the streets and society, the arrival of synthetic humans challenges moral boundaries and ignites existential horror across all levels of society, from scientists and politicians to journalists and law enforcement. The series asks: Can these new beings save us…and will we allow them?
Artist Tony Parker called him working on the book “A Thing of Beauty,” expressing his excitement for fans to experience the story.
Issue #1 of Synthetics Volume 1 will be holding a comic shop on October 29th, 2025 for $4.99. Please see the details and store near you.
