Vault Comics has announced Nectar, a horror series written by author Jeremy Robinson (Nemesis Saga). Art by Anapaola Martello (Captain Marvel) and Francesco Francini (Masters of Horror), colors by Steve Cannon, lettering by Jim Campbell, and design by Tim Daniel. The series, which begins March 4, follows a type of vampire butterfly that causes a “dancing plague” on an island village off the coast of Salem, Massachusetts.

“When my wife Hilary and I started talking about story concepts, all I knew was that I wanted to create a new Victorian monster to rival Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and the werewolf,” says Robinson. “Our twisted imaginations kicked in and within minutes we had a vampire butterfly and a dancing plague together, and the title was Nectar. We loved the idea so much that we started writing the script the next day.”

“A month later, the script was finished and we signed on to a team of amazing artists, Annapaola Martello and Francesco Francini. Every page they delivered was amazing, and colorist Steve Cannon turned the black and white pages into butterflies and bloody prints. It’s rare for me to work on a project that’s inspired from start to finish, such as a dead body. “Nectar” is one of the few times in a creator’s career that he’s been inspired from start to finish. ”

The book is the first of four series Vault has lined up from Robinson following a deal with Robinson’s publisher Breakneck Comics earlier this year. Stay tuned for more details. Robinson’s previous comics include Project Nemesis, Island 731, and Godzilla: Rage Across Time. The book also marks the U.S. debut of Francini, a layout artist who has worked primarily in the Italian comics industry.

Cover artists for this comic include Chris Sheahan, Jason Shawn Alexander, Marne House, Danny Ruckert, Jonathan Wayshak, Suspiria, and Robinson himself, and you can check out some of their work below.
