It was announced yesterday that Nazie Marsham will join Skybound Entertainment as a senior editor, overseeing both new development of original comics and licensing partnerships such as Lego Books.
Marsham is an industry veteran, having previously been a publisher at IDW Publishing (read the interview here), executive editor at Disney Publishing Worldwide for the Marvel Press line, and editor at DC’s Bat group.
“Nachie Marsham brings incredible experience and passion to Skybound. He is already committed to growing our original and licensed comics program in new directions. ,” Sean Mackiewicz, senior vice president of publishers, said in a statement. “Our editorial team is the best in the industry, and we remain committed to bringing the most exciting and emotionally moving comics to market every week.”
“It’s great to join the Skybound editorial team and work on such a kaleidoscopic array of titles,” Marsham said in his statement. “To be with a company with such an amazing history, a killer row of backlists, an award-winning giant on the frontlist, and a burning desire to continue to advance comic book storytelling. That’s great.”
Marsham joins other recent hires at Skybound, including Ben Abernathy (Editor-in-Chief), Blake Kobashigawa (Senior Director of Business Development) and Alex Hargett (Director, Brand, Editorial).
The move follows Skybound’s critical and commercial success with the Hasbro-themed Energon Universe series, as well as more licensed publications such as the Universal Monsters series and Creepshow anthology sequels. This was done in response to the outstretched hand. And of course, there’s Invincible and The Walking Dead, the rugged warhorses from Skybound founder Robert Kirkman. Other media properties in the pipeline include Heart Attack, based on the Skybound original by Sean Kittelson and Eric Zawadzki, which is in development as a “live-action animated” television series at Japanese network Fuji Television; Maciewicz’s Gasolina and artist Niko Walter will be an audio drama on Audible. And definitely, as they say, there will be more to come.
