At the “Jim Lee and Friends” panel at New York Comic-Con on Friday, the publisher announced that Mortal Kombat character Sub-Zero will be coming to the DC Universe through the event comic “DC KO.”
Jim Lee and Friends is an annual panel discussion where Lee, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, features guests and provides a little news. He brought Ed Boone on board, and the two discussed that Lee wanted to do something with the Mortal Kombat characters in the comics world.
But that wasn’t the only news from the panel. Annabelle, the creepy doll character from The Conjuring, will also appear in DC KO. Lee brought in DC KO writer Scott Snyder to talk about the crossover, and he revealed that Sub-Zero and other non-DC Universe characters will appear in February from a bonus level that draws entities from other universes.
And it wasn’t just “Sub-Zero” and “Annabelle.” A cadre of Dynamite Comics comic characters also appeared, including Homelander, Vampirella, and Red Sonja.
“Who wouldn’t want to see Homelander fight Superman?” Snyder asked.
But perhaps the biggest surprise is that Samantha the Bear from the hit indie comic Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees will also be attending the event. The series is a hit indie horror comic by cartoonist Patrick Horvath and published by IDW.
“There may be more after that, but these are the only things that are locked up,” Lee said.
