Yesterday, via Hollywood reporters, KickAss creators Mark Miller and John Romita Jr. announced they would be replaying Psychic Sam, a violent, minority reporting-like action series about vigilantes who heard voices telling the names and addresses of future murderers. It is currently crowdfunded on Kickstarter and will be released by the new Imprint Side Hustle Comics in place of Millarworld, a company owned by Millar. At the time of writing, it has already surpassed its £20,000 target and has raised £22,549.
Sam Nicoletti hears the voice in her head before anything bad happens. The voice tells him the name and address of the murderer, and if he ignores this voice, the innocent person will die. At first he thought he was crazy, but as his body began to accumulate, he realizes that he needs to do something, and after a while he hears about the very horrifying murder that he needs to intervene. What do you do in this situation? You call the cops and they think you’re crazy because you haven’t done anything bad yet. But innocent people will suffer unless you take matters into their own hands.
Additionally, it has been revealed that the film version is already in development along with producer Ivan Atkinson, who co-wrote Guy Ritchie’s The Gentleman and Wrath of Man. This is probably not included in the Netflix work either. On his Kickstarter page, Miller stated:
Before the announcement, Miller teases social media books, claiming that he was approached by Marvel Editor in-Chief CB Cebulski about the new project for House of Ideas, hinting that there is a new idea for Superman Comic, and that he will write a future crossover for Marvel and DC. But as Miller is bleed coolly, “As a fanboy, both invitations were very interesting, and I’ve cut 12 weeks on the Miller World schedule.
Needless to say, Miller’s announcement quickly cast a shadow when Marvel and DC revealed a Deadpool and Batman crossover.
In any case, to learn more about the project and its goals, visit Kickstarter to check out the interior artwork. The crowdfunder will end on July 9th.
