Well, it comes to this: the events of Blood Hunt hit Miles Morales with his own title. I would lie if I said I was excited to go to this. I was initially skeptical after spinning miles by the ancient vampire Varnae at the Blood Hunt event. Knowing that it won’t turn around (although, soon) gave me a little more anxiety. This is my dissatisfaction. yes. However, I am happy to report Ziglar and Co. This editorial choice was able to favour them.
Marvel Comics
This volume opens firmly during the vampire invasion in Blood Hunt. Surrounded by vampires, Miles heads to Breel, the daughter of Blade, Dracula and Hightil, and sends out the undead fool. In previous stories of this run, Miles dealt with an ancient energy vampire known as the R’ym’r. It’s no surprise that he reared his big nasty pruning heads when many other vampires harass the rest of Marvel’s universe. These are two very simple issues in comics. There wasn’t much to R’ym’r’s story, but that wasn’t changed, but I’m glad I saw Hightail again.
It’s not that I didn’t like these two chapters. They’re fine. That means they feel like a rinse and repetition of the previous story with this villain. R’ym’r escapes his prison and they need to find a way to bring him back into the artifact. It’s not bad, but it feels like a repetition. The moments that stand out are Miles’ interactions with High Tile and how much she can’t stand him. Artists Brent Peoples and Daniel Pixiot and colorist Brian Valenza all do solid work. They are two good-looking issues, but nothing has surprised me like the usual art of this book.
There is also a interstitial story from Miles Morales. Spider-Man annual titled “Night Shift.” It takes place shortly after the Blood Hunt, Miles heads to Atlanta to meet up with Briel and begin training to handle the new undead powerhouse. Writer Danny Roar handles Miles’ voice well in these few pages, but artist Elena Casagrande and colorist Dee Kanif are the last ones, as Miles’ fears with his new status Give hope to.
Marvel Comics
Miles then returns to New York City and tries to navigate to tell his girlfriend, Tiana Tome (aka Sterling) about him being a vampire. We get a few pages dedicated to Teana telling her own events. It’s already interesting to be a vulture’s granddaughter, but it’s doubly true to know Tiana’s inner world. Miles isn’t just struggling to tell Tiana, but he also feels more violent with his new powers. He turns to his therapist, Doc Sasquatch and the mysterious Dr. Kwan for help.
Kwan hesitates to get a field experience (we don’t know why – a mystery!), but she’s Misty Night so that Miles can tackle this issue head-on as Miles stands up with Teana. I’m heading to. This is part of what I had missing from the previous chapter. Mile turns his eyes to his supporting cast, and they are willing to help him through things. Not only does Miles have a regular crew, but Misty also calls Big Gun. Big Gun is the character that was also turned during Blood Hunt: Black Panther.
Black Panther believes he has a solution that balances Miles’ normal powers with his new magical vampire infection. He also offers Miles a smooth new suit that I fell in love with immediately. While all this was very cool, the drama in the background is related to denouncement of the miles to drive Tiana away from him. The vulture comes after Miles nonstop, despite Tiana telling him to retreat. The story ends with Black Panther telling Miles that he needs to head to Wakanda (!) for the next step in his journey.
Marvel Comics
The final four chapters of this volume gave me what I had been craving. Ziglar launches it out of the park when the vampire fallout comes down to personal miles and puts his crew there to help him. Federico Visennini returned as a regular artist and blew my eyeballs out of the socket. The flow of action and the pure motivism of fighting have always been this artistic run. Valenza also has colored here, crackling from Vicentini’s art pop and pages.
My desire to not involve certain tie-ins continues to be fulfilled. He felt his control over being a vampire, but Ziglar made the lemon into lemonade. The first few chapters felt slow and expected, but the Final Four was a return to form. Miles has a new vibranium suit that will help him control his powers and is heading towards Wakanda along with the Black Panther. I can’t wait to see where Ziglar takes my favorite Spider-Man next.
